Hi Morgan…I had a Yamaha YBR125 Custom (well still do but upgraded after getting full licence)…was very happy with it….cruiser style and great all rounder…very comfortable and easy to handle….looks fantastic…really depends on what you want to do with it.
Hi Morgan.
Firstly stay away from chinese tatt don’t be drawn in by cheap prices as they are complete rubbish, you’d be better off on a 10 year old yamaha or honda rather than a brand new sym or jonway effort.
Secondly you need to pick a bike that ”FITS” you, it’s no good getting one too tall or too short, i would always go for a trials type bike as a starter bike as they are easier to handle and have a good upright position for comfort and visibility. The ybr 125 is a fantastic bike, personally i wouldnt go for any custom or cruiser style as a first bike or even a learner bike, the reason is the amount of chrome and bling, drop it and it’s a fortune to fix and usually a wroit off insurance wise. best to go for one 3 or 4 years old with low miles than a new one save your cash for your next bigger bike not the intrim one…
A scooter will give the same problems asa cruiser, drop it and its a goner or it’s going to cost a fortune to fix….
Above all else ride before you buy !
If the seller won’t let you then walk away andbuy elswhere, no exceptions there no excuse for not letting you test ride it.
Every bike i sell i will set up fot the customer to test ride it before i will take their money.
If you havn’t passed your cbt or even if you have some of the bike shows like the Excel bike show in Feb have a ”rideon” learner zone where you can go in and test ride new models…get there early and book your place or do it online if you can
Hope that
helps
