Ryka’s, top spot for bikers
There are a number of places across Britain that have an extra-special place in the hearts of bikers. Places like Matlock, Devil’s Bridge and Rivington Barn – great ride-out destinations, often renowned for providing a friendly welcome and the chance to have a bacon butty and a cuppa with your mates.
At Keep Britain Biking we think that it’s important to recognise the effort that goes into making these places so special, which is why we want to highlight one in particular… the fantastic Ryka’s Café on Box Hill.
Conveniently situated on the A24 between Leatherhead and Dorking, Box Hill is one of the South’s most well-known and best-loved biking meet-up spots. Bikers have been flocking to this natural beauty spot since the 1920s.
Box Hill even made an impact on popular music, with 80s biker band Dumpy’s Rusty Nuts penning cult classic ‘Boxhill or Bust’ about the area.
The presence of Ryka’s Café goes some way to explaining Box Hill’s present-day appeal – the café offers some of the best food around (perfect after a long ride), loads of parking dedicated for bikes, as well as a great outdoor seating area.
There’s plenty of space and the mood is relaxed and ultra biker-friendly. You can see why Ryka’s attracts such a following.
When you visit you’ll be greeted by the iconic Ryka’s signs, provided by Keep Britain Biking’s supporters Devitt Insurance Services (keep your eyes peeled… you can spot many more Devitt and KBB items around).
If like us, you’re Ryka’s fans – why not join the I Love Ryka’s group on the Keep Britain Biking Groups section … here you can organise a Ryka’s ride-out or just chat to other bikers who have visited this fantastic café. We’d love to hear about any fond memories you might have about Ryka’s and Box Hill – why not upload any snaps you have to our gallery or submit a blog post for your fellow Keep Britain Biking members to read.
Ryka’s isn’t the only great biker cafe around – so have a look at our interactive On The Road map to find one near you, or share your own favourite hang-out with everyone, it’s really quick and easy.
